This mountain is also closely associated with Luang Pu Hin of Wat Nong Na, a revered Buddhist monk. According to published accounts of his life, he travelled as a wandering monk from northeastern Thailand through Nakhon Ratchasima before staying at Wat Nong Ta Ming and later Wat Nong Na. Seeking solitude for meditation, he climbed Khao Phraya Doen Thong and built a simple shelter on a rock, with a thatched roof to protect him from the elements.

One particularly intriguing local story tells of his regular journeys up the mountain after morning prayers. The route was steep and demanding, yet his frequent climbs inspired a belief among villagers that he could miraculously shorten the journey. Passed down through generations, this story reflects the deep faith and admiration people held for him.

Folklore research from Thepsatri Rajabhat University also records an account by Khruba Sanyasi, a Buddhist monk, who described a vision of Luang Pu Hin directing him to markings in the rocks revered by devotees as Buddha’s footprints. This mountain is also closely associated with Luang Pu Hin of Wat Nong Na, a revered Buddhist monk. According to published accounts of his life, he travelled as a wandering monk from northeastern Thailand through Nakhon Ratchasima before staying at Wat Nong Ta Ming and later Wat Nong Na. Seeking solitude for meditation, he climbed Khao Phraya Doen Thong and built a simple shelter on a rock, with a thatched roof to protect him from the elements.

One particularly intriguing local story tells of his regular journeys up the mountain after morning prayers. The route was steep and demanding, yet his frequent climbs inspired a belief among villagers that he could miraculously shorten the journey. Passed down through generations, this story reflects the deep faith and admiration people held for him.

Folklore research from Thepsatri Rajabhat University also records an account by Khruba Sanyasi, a Buddhist monk, who described a vision of Luang Pu Hin directing him to markings in the rocks revered by devotees as Buddha’s footprints.
